China-built Turgusun Hydropower Station to Help Ease Power Shortage in E. Kazakhstan

NUR-SULTAN, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) --The Turgusun Hydropower Plant in Kazakhstan, built by China International Water and Electric Corporation, a subsidiary of the China Three Gorges Corporation, has been operating at full capacity since mid-July. The plant, with an installed capacity of 24.9 MW, is located on the Turgusun River near the city of Altai. With its construction started in 2017, this hydropower plant is not only the first one in its river basin's plan of cascade hydropower development, but also the first implemented key project in the hydropower field of China-Kazakhstan capacity cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
