This year marks the 30th anniversary of the dialogue partnership between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). 30 years ago, the total bilateral trade volume was less than $8 billion. Whereas in 2020, despite the influence from COVID-19, the bilateral trade still grew robustly. The total volume exceeded $680 billion, historically making ASEAN China’s top trading partner.
With continous development of the Belt and Road Initiative and the signing of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP), the China-ASEAN relationship will be even closer.
