The Kano State Association of Local Governments (Kano ALGON) is the state chapter of the national Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON). It consists of the chairpersons of all 44 local government areas in Kano State, each representing their respective council. 

Kano ALGON shares the same mandates as the national body, including: (1) Safeguarding local governments' autonomy and legal rights; (2) Enhancing administrative efficiency and professionalism; (3) Offering policy advice and feedback on federal/state initiatives; (4) Facilitating coordination and problem-solving among local governments; (5) Representing Kano’s local governments on a national platform. 

In June 2025, Kano ALGON elected its first female chairperson, marking a milestone in gender representation. Overall, Kano ALGON functions as a regional coordination body, promoting dialogue, legal-political support, and local government representation in federal and state affairs. It has been active in legal oversight, gender advocacy, and institutional engagement.
