Gwadar, Pakistan
Gwadar is a port city on the southwestern coast of Balochistan, Pakistan. The city is located on the shores of the Arabian Sea opposite Oman. For most of its history, Gwadar was a small and medium-sized settlement, and its economy relied mainly on artisanal fishing. In April 2015, Pakistan and China announced their intention to develop the $46 billion China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which in turn forms part of China's the Belt and Road Initiative. Gwadar features heavily in CPEC, and is also envisaged to be the link between the Belt and Road Initiative and the Maritime Silk Road project. A multi-purpose terminal with 3 berths of 20,000 tons has been built in Gwadar Port.
