Fuzhou and Honolulu Held Launch Event for Friendship City Products

The Fuzhou-Honolulu Friendship City Products Launch Event was successfully held on January 19. Li Chunlin, Deputy Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles, sent a congratulatory video message as a special guest of the activity. Huang Jianxiong, Vice Mayor of Fuzhou Municipal People's Government, attended and addressed the event. Sean Quinlan, Chairman of Hawaii State House Representative’s Committee on Tourism, and Calvin Say, Council Member of the City and County of Honolulu, and other guests delivered speeches via the internet.

Li Chunlin, Deputy Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles, commended the friendship city exchanges between Fuzhou and Honolulu. He believes that the export of Hawaiian coffee beans to Fuzhou is conducive to economic and trade ties between the two cities and that local-level exchanges and cooperation is an important driving force for China-US relation development. He looks forward to further deepened friendship between the two sides that  will play a positive role in the healthy and stable development of China-US relations.

Huang Jianxiong, Vice Mayor of Fuzhou Municipal People's Government, applauded the series of achievements in economic, cultural and educational exchanges since the establishment of friendship city relationship. He expressed his hope that the two sides would further deepen exchanges, strengthen resource sharing, and carry out practical cooperation in  morefields at higher level to jointly write a new chapter of friendly exchanges and mutual benefits between the two cities.

Sean Quinlan, Chairman of Hawaii State House Representative’s Committee on Tourism expressed that the two cities have developed closer ties in various fields through the friendship city relationship and that he was looking forward to stable and long-term friendship between Fuzhou and Honolulu. Calvin Say, Council Member of the City and County of Honolulu, thanked Fuzhou for its support and help in promoting the specialties of Honolulu City

and look forward to continuing to work together with Fuzhou for friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation. Doctor Keli’i Akina, Trustee-at-large of the Office of Hawaii Affairs and the president and CEO of Grassroot Institute of Hawaii, and Dennis Suo, Managing Director of Hawaii Tourism China, introduced the outstanding quality of the Hawaii coffee and congratulated on the success of the launch.

Jack Zhang, Secretary-General of Fujian Chamber of Commerce in Hawaii and Chairman of the Board of Rongtan (Fujian) International Trade Co., Ltd, introduced Rainbow Stone’s coffee, the first Chinese brand of Hawaii coffee, and expressed his continuing commitment to playing a role as a bridge for the exchanges and cooperation between Fuzhou and Hawaii.

Fuzhou and Honolulu established the friendship city relationship in October 2021, which has led to intensive communications in economy, trade, education, culture and other fields. Going forward, the two cities will continue to deepen pragmatic cooperation, broaden the areas of exchanges, enhance people-to-people ties, and promote mutual learning.
