Naples is a famous port city in southern Italy with rich tourism resources. As China optimizes its entry and exit policies, some tourism enterprises here have already prepared themselves to welcome Chinese tourists.
Ferrara is the owner of a tourism business in Naples, about 80% of whose turnover was based on the Chinese market before the outbreak of the COVID epidemic. Recently, China announced that from January 8 on, it would optimize and adjust its entry and exit policy and orderly resume outbound tourism of Chinese citizens. Ferrara said that this gave her confidence in the recovery of the Italian tourism market, and expressed that she and her staff had tailored a variety of tourism products for Chinese tourists, including programs for experiencing the Italian culture and lifestyles.
According to the Italian National Institute of Statistics, Italy received 5.356 million Chinese tourists in 2019 before the COVID outbreak, ranking as one of the most visited European countries by Chinese tourists that year. Mr. Cristiano Varotti, Chief Representative of Italian National Tourist Board Shanghai Office, recently told reporters that Italy is already well prepared and that it welcomes the early visits of more Chinese tourists.
