Prof. Hong Huasheng Visited the Secretariat of 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee

On the afternoon of August 11, 2022, Ms. Hong Huasheng, Former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of Fujian Provincial People’s Congress, Professor of Coastal and Ocean Management Institute of Xiamen University and advisor of 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee visited the Secretariat of 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee. Mr. Wu Xiaojie, Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government and Executive Deputy Secretary General of 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee met with the visiting delegation led by Prof. Hong Huasheng. A section chief of Fuzhou Municipal Bureau of Ocean and Fishery attended the meeting. 

 

 

Mr. Wu Xiaojie expressed his welcome to the delegation for the visit to the Secretariat, and introduced the work and future plan of the Committee. Prof. Hong acknowledged the work of the Committee, and pointed out that the Committee has developed rapidly and kicked off to a good start over the past five years, forming a certain international influence. Prof. Hong then introduced in detail the Xiamen International Training Center for Coastal Sustainable Development, the PEMSEA Network of Local Governments (PNLG) for Sustainable Coastal Development and the World Ocean Week, in an effort to deepen pragmatic cooperation between the Coastal and Ocean Management Institute of Xiamen University and the Committee. Mr. Wu Xiaojie stated that, by taking Prof. Hong’s visit to the Secretariat as an opportunity, following Prof. Hong’s guidance and relying on the faculty and channels of the Coastal and Ocean Management Institute of Xiamen University, the Committee will give full play to the resources and advantages of Fuzhou’s friendship cities and the role of the Committee as a platform, to further enhance the bilateral exchanges and cooperation on training talents, promoting international exchanges and organizing international activities.
