TIME:2022-04-02 09:15

On March 30, according to Foreign Affairs Office of Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government, Fuzhou Changle International Airport officially opened fast-track lanes for holders of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Travel Card (ABTC), with relevant instructional signs displayed around the airport. This new international element marks a new step forward in Fuzhou’s efforts to build an international city and improve its international business environment.

ABTC is a multiple-entry visa scheme initiated by APEC in an effort to facilitate the trade and investment within the APEC region. The card, issued to business travellers who are citizens of APEC participating economies, provides them with long-term and multiple-entry visas as well as fast-track entry to and exit from APEC participating economies. Once granted, for five years,  ABTC holders with valid passports are free to visit APEC participating economies which have granted pre-clearance for short-term business travel without applying for visas. The card also enables holders to enjoy fast track immigration processing at each economys major international airports.

It is learned that, at present, several first-tier cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen have set up ABTC lanes with noticeable signs at airports. The ABTC lanes in Fuzhou Changle International Airport will effectively enable enterprises in Fuzhou to practice China’s “Bring in” and "Go Global” strategies. Also, it will improve Fuzhou’s international business environment and speed up its efforts in building a modern international city.

"ABTC is by far the largest visa preferential service provided to enterprises at the national level, the most valuable business travel card for enterprises to expand into global markets, and also a powerful tool endorsed with China’s credibility to help enterprises ‘go global’." Officials from Foreign Affairs Office of Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government said. Therefore, they will continue to guide enterprises to use ABTC, so as to help them improve their international competitiveness, seize opportunities and rise to challenges in the RCEP market.
