Fujian Daily - As an integral part of the extended 44th session of the World Heritage Committee (Fuzhou (China)/Online, 2021), World Heritage Young Professionals Forum was inaugurated in Fuzhou on July 5th. Under the theme of “World Heritage and Sustainable Livelihoods”, the Forum will highlight the importance of heritage for societies and livelihoods, and explore its great potential to contribute towards social, economic, and environmental goals.
From 5th to 9th July, through a variety of presentations, roundtables, group speeches, case studies, etc., young professionals and heritage experts at the Forum will explore the subthemes of :
l World Heritage: People and Governance
l World Heritage: Tourism and Community Development
l World Heritage: Community Empowerment through Innovation
At the end of the Forum, a document named “Youth Voices on World Heritage and Sustainable Livelihoods” would be compiled and submitted to the World Heritage Committee.
World Heritage Young Professionals Forum serves as a platform for bringing young professionals and heritage experts together to foster mutual learning and knowledge sharing, and to help youth discover new roles for themselves in heritage conservation. Since 1995, World Heritage Young Professionals Forum has been an annual event held at the same time as the session of the World Heritage Committee.
