The delegation consisting of 4 delegates from Foreign Affairs Office of the Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government attended the 6th UCLG World Congress held on 12-16 November 2019 in Durban, South Africa. The five-day Congress was attended by over 3000 delegates, including officials, scholars, experts, business representatives from more than 220 local governments and associations. It provided a platform for delegates and attendees to carry out deep consultations and discussions on how to develop concrete cooperation among cities, promote international cultural and people-to-people exchanges, jointly address global challenges, realize common prosperity and development and so on.

Fuzhou was successfully re-elected as UCLG World Council and Executive Bureau Member (2019-2022) in the General Assembly, which kept the voice of Fuzhou being heard in UCLG and promoted Fuzhou’s multilateral cooperation to be carried out in depth. At the Executive Bureau, as the only UCLG ASPAC representative to speak, the delegate from Foreign Affairs Office of the Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government introduced Fuzhou and 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee and invited UCLG members to attend the Marine Economy and Urban Development Forum which will be held during the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road Expo in May 2020. The delegation also distributed leaflets of the Committee, picture albums of Fuzhou and Invest in Fuzhou on the scene, and talked with Secretaries General from some other UCLG sections and attendees to hope they can continue to support and pay attention to Fuzhou and the Committee, as well as invite them and their members to attend next year’s events.
