Fuzhou Attended the 2022 UCLG Executive Bureau Meeting

On the evening of June 15 (Beijing time), the United Cities and Local Governments (hereinafter referred to as the "UCLG") convened its 2022 Executive Bureau Meeting under the theme of "Local and Regional Governments Fostering Peace at the front Line of Emergencies". Due to the impact of COVID-19, this conference was held in a hybrid form, with the main offline venue in Seville, Spain. More than 100 representatives from all over the world participated online, including delegates of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the City of Fuzhou, the City of Xi'an, and other UCLG Executive Bureau Members from the Chinese mainland.

Ms. Emilia Saiz, Secretary General of UCLG, chaired the meeting. Mr. Carlos Martínez, the current Governing President of UCLG addressed the audience. The meeting reviewed the Report of the Executive Bureau in November 2021, and heard the policy highlights and strategic priorities, the reports of UCLG committees on institutional matters, and the updates on the 2022 Daejeon World Congress. Fuzhou and other members of the UCLG Executive Bureau reviewed various affairs of the organization. The participating members conducted extensive exchanges and in-depth discussions on issues and related documents on gender equality, sustainable ecology and peace. The meeting proposed that dialogues between cities and regions should be enhanced, women and other disadvantaged and ;">and global governance should be bolstered for the balanced, coordinated and inclusive development across the world. The meeting also expressed the hope to further promote and implement relevant measures at the 7th UCLG World Congress, to be held in October.
