2020 Cross-Strait (Fuzhou) Fisheries Week and China (Fuzhou) International Seafood & Fisheries Expo Successfully Concluded

2020 Cross-Strait (Fuzhou) Fisheries Week and China (Fuzhou) International Seafood & Fisheries Expo was successfully held at Fuzhou Strait International Conference & Exhibition Center from September 4th to 6th, 2020. This year marks the twelfth year for the Fisheries Expo to be held in Fuzhou. Due to the impact of changes in the market environment and the development and transformation of consumption patterns, the new “online + offline” dual-line exhibition model was implemented for the first time in this year’s exhibition, which enriched exhibition ways, expanded channels for enterprise exhibitors and helped aquatic enterprises enter a new era of marketing. This model broke the limitation of 3-day exhibition and provided comprehensive services for the whole year.

This exhibition covered an area of 46,000 square meters, attracting a total of 323 companies from 15 provinces, and the number of exhibitors from outside Fujian province accounted for 40%. The exhibits cover the entire fishery and aquatic product industry and the peripheral industrial chain, from various fresh aquatic products, frozen aquatic products, dried aquatic products, seafood ingredients, etc., to aquaculture technology, aquatic product processing, packaging, preservation technology, and related equipment such as ocean fishing. In addition, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, many companies who export aquatic products for foreign trade have turned to the domestic market, further enriching the exhibits in this year's Fisheries Expo. Many canned seafood products, instant seafood, and refined aquatic products for export have all appeared at the Fisheries Expo. The exhibition was featured by more diverse exhibits with improving refinement.

According to statistics, this exhibition set up 1,725 booths, 12 key marine and fishery projects for signing, with a total contract value of 23.794 billion yuan; on-site retail sales were 71.13 million, and economic and trade matching value was worth 530 million; and the number of purchasers reached 8,000. This exhibition also built online platforms. Among them, the Fuzhou Fisheries Expo Cloud Exhibition Platform has had more than 350 exhibitors online, with more than 20,000 registered buyers on the platform; more than 3,500 purchasers initiated conversations in the background, including over 1,200 companies who had intentions to sign up for a deal.

In addition, there are three highlights of this Fisheries Expo:

Firstly, the exhibition set up eight major exhibition areas covering seafood materials, aquatic products processing, Fuzhou Area of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone, natural products of ocean fisheries, fishery machinery and aquaculture equipment.

Secondly, a dual-line interaction was developed online and offline during the exhibition by holding the Fuyu Youpin Cloud Shopping Festival and the Simulcast Festival for Goods of Free Trade Zone and joining in the series of “All-Fujian Joy Buy” activities. Those events were advertised synchronously on TikTok, Toutiao, Weibo, WeChat Moments and other channels. The two live broadcasts attracted 10 million online viewers and sold hundreds of products for more than 50 companies. The scene also attracted TikTok, Weibo and other platforms to carry out real-time broadcasts. During the event, nearly 500,000 transactions were initiated online. By cooperating with well-known Chinese internet celebrities, the organizer of Fuyu Youpin Cloud Shopping Festival adopted the technology of virtual live broadcast room, and visually displayed the production and breeding processes of aquatic products and brand cultures of enterprises. It was an innovation in the live broadcast of aquatic industry nationwide. In the Simulcast Festival for Goods of Free Trade Zone, a professional anchor team was invited from Hangzhou to host live commerce for the aquatic product industry. During the 1-yuan sec-killing in the live commerce, nearly 300 products were sold out in seconds. Cloud trading, cloud matching, and cloud display have also become the highlights in this year's Fisheries Expo.

Third, in addition to online supporting activities during the exhibition, the signing ceremony of key projects, the 2nd China Fishery and Fishing Village Development and Revitalization Forum, the 2nd Fujian and Taiwan Recreational Fisheries Seminar, the National Aquatic Products Procurement Matching Conference, China (Fuzhou) World Goldfish Competition, Abalone Festival, Kelp Festival, Fish Ball Festival and a series of fishery brand promotion activities were held on site. Among them, the Fishery and Fishing Village Development and Revitalization Forum was successfully held online and offline, with an online hit rate of over 1.53 million. The on-site exhibitors gave good feedback and the accuracy of professional merchants improved, and they all expressed that there will be more cooperation and exchanges in the future.
