Fuzhou Attended the Video Conference of UCLG 2021 Executive Bureau

       On the evening of May 20th Beijing local time, United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) convened the video conference of 2021 Executive Bureau under the theme of “Care at the Heart of Local Service Delivery for an Inclusive Recovery”. The three-hour conference attracted nearly 300 delegates around the world to attend it, including members of UCLG Executive Bureau from Chinese mainland such as the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), Fuzhou City, Hangzhou City, Zhengzhou City, Yiwu City, Changsha City and Haikou City.

The conference reviewed the 2020 Report of the Guangzhou Executive Bureau as well as took note of Reports of the Committees under UCLG and 2021 Work Plan. Focusing on the care society, migration, culture, gender equality, intergenerational dialogue and other issues and relevant documents, the participants had extensive exchanges and in-depth discussions. Attendees also proposed that online learning and sharing activities should be actively carried out, and more cities, local governments and organizations should be encouraged to take part in the activities held by UCLG, so as to enhance the relationship and cooperation with international organizations, pay close attention to and care for the vulnerable and marginalized groups and thus realize the inclusive recovery in the whole society.

At the conference, Mr. Wu Xiaojie, Executive Deputy Secretary General of 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee and Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government introduced Fuzhou’s response to the challenges posed by the pandemic, Fuzhou’s approach in improving people’s livelihood and the activities to be held by the 21st-Century Maritime Cooperation Committee in 2021. He invited the guests to participate in the activities held by the Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government and the Committee this year with a view to enhance understanding and friendship through exchanges and mutual learning.
