According to data from Fuzhou Customs, since the inaugural train of the China-Europe Railway Express (Fuzhou) launched in July 2022, a total of 77 trips have been operated, transporting 7,918 TEUs of cargo with a cumulative import-export value exceeding 1.6 billion yuan. In the first half of this year, the service operated 10 trips, shipping 1,090 TEUs with a value of 242 million yuan, representing year-on-year increases of 100%, 127%, and 136% respectively. 

It is not only the number of trips, TEUs, and cargo value that have grown, but also the variety of goods. At the outset, the China-Europe Railway Express (Fuzhou) almost exclusively carried baby products. Today, in addition to traditional small commodities such as daily necessities and textile garments, the containers increasingly feature high-value, high-tech "Made in China" products, including generator sets, CNC machine tools, auto parts, and LCD displays. Cargo sources now cover multiple provinces and cities, including Fujian, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, and Shanghai. 

"The China-Europe Railway Express (Fuzhou) offers significant advantages in terms of cost-effectiveness, large transport capacity, and strong safety, enabling more enterprises in Fujian and surrounding areas to send 'Made in China' goods abroad safely and conveniently," said Yu Lei, head of the Putian business department at the Fuzhou Railway Logistics Center. 

Taking complete industrial electromechanical equipment as an example, traditional sea freight from Fujian ports to Central Asia and Europe takes more than 35 days including transit, making it difficult to meet urgent orders from overseas construction sites. Additionally, the high humidity and significant temperature fluctuations in ship cabins can cause metal parts of electromechanical equipment to rust and electronic control components to malfunction due to moisture, affecting a company's reputation. 

"The China-Europe Railway Express has opened up an efficient logistics channel for our electromechanical products to reach the Central Asian market," said Chen Jun, foreign trade manager at Fuzhou Jiewo Electromechanical Co., Ltd. "After switching to rail transport, the entire journey takes only 15 days to reach major Central Asian hubs directly, significantly compressing delivery timelines and helping us retain overseas engineering clients. At the same time, the standardized enclosed freight containers provide excellent dust and moisture protection, significantly improving the intact delivery rate compared to sea freight, giving us a competitive edge in overseas electromechanical bidding and market competition."
