Fuzhou Showed UP in the 13th World Urban Forum

Local time on May 17, the 13th World Urban Forum kicked off in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Government representatives, experts and scholars from 182 countries and regions gathered to discuss solutions to renovate informal settlements and slums and address the global housing crisis. The forum also aims to advance the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals, especially those related to sustainable development of cities and communities. As an important supporting event of the forum, the City Expo was held concurrently.

Boasting an exhibition area of 38,000 square meters, the expo set a new record, bringing together 217 exhibitors from 66 countries. Led by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Exhibition on Achievements in Chinas Urban Construction and Development, co-hosted by the Fuzhou Municipal Peoples Government, Shanghai Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Shaoxing Municipal Peoples Government, made a splendid debut at the expo.

Through a combination of pictures, texts and videos, Fuzhou comprehensively presented four major themes: City of Blessings, Coastal City, Mountain and Water City and Industrial Highland. It showcased the cis profound cultural heritage, open mind, livable ecological environment and dynamic industrial development, demonstrating its unique charm as a national historical and cultural city and a modern international metropolis. The Fuzhou delegation called for ideas for World Cities Day Flagship Event Global, and sincerely invited cities worldwide to join the International Alliance of Global Sustainable Cities.

Fuzhous participation in the forum in Baku marks an important practice for the city to deeply engage in global urban governance. Leveraging the World Urban Forum as an international dialogue platform, Fuzhou has fully shared its experience in sustainable development and further elevated its global influence and visibility.
