Fujian Inland Waterway Freight Transport Volume Reaches 1,000 Tons with the Official Delivery of "Minjiang No.1" Cargo Ship

TIME:2024-02-26 16:38

In the morning of February 4th, "Minjiang No.1", a 1,000-ton dual-purpose cargo ship invested and built by Nanping Industrial Park in Fujian Province arrived at Nanping Port for delivery after four months of construction. It is the largest dual-purpose cargo ship in the shipping history of Minjiang River, marking that Fujian inland waterway freight transport volume reaches 1,000 tons.

"Minjiang No.1" has a designed packing capacity of 54 TEUs and a full freight volume of 1,000 tons. It will be operated and used by a state-owned logistics company established by the Administrative Committee of Nanping Industrial Park to better serve the development of the shipping industry in Minjiang River.

It is known that the Nanping Port was officially put into operation in December 2022, and shipping was also resumed in the main stem of Minjiang River introducing the river-sea coordinated transport to Fujian. Last year, Nanping Port achieved a breakthrough in annual freight volume of 50,000 tons only by two 500-ton cargo ships. Facing the ever-increasing freight shipping demand, Nanping Industrial Park has invested in the construction of five 1,000-ton cargo ships. Except for the "Minjiang No.1" cargo ship, the other four will be delivered in the near future.

Since Minjiang River was reopen to shipping, the liner of Nanping Port has sailed 220 voyages, and the cumulative cargo throughput has reached 55,000 tons. The development framework of road-rail-water intermodal transport with Nanping Port as the core has basically taken shape.
