The 20th China - ASEAN Expo Opens

The 20th China - ASEAN Expo (hereinafter referred to as the Expo), China - ASEAN Business and Investment Summit held its opening ceremony on the 17th in Nanning, Guangxi. Chinese Premier Li Qiang attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

About 1,200 people attended the event, including Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar, Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Phumthan, ASEAN Secretary General Kao Kim Hourn, as well as representatives of the business community from China, ASEAN and other countries and regions. 

The theme of this year's Expo is "Work Together For a Harmonious Home and a Shared Future- Promoting High Quality Development of The BRI and Nurturing New Epicenter of Growth ", during which the opening ceremony, the Expo and the summit will be held. The Expo will last four days from September 16th to 19th. 

Based on Version 3.0 China- ASEAN FTA, RCEP, the Belt and Road and other cooperation mechanisms, the Expo will continue to organize activities including the third RCEP summit, and release the Blue Book of China-ASEAN FTA 3.0 Business Opportunity Outlook. 

The Expo has a total exhibition area of 102,000 square meters, with foreign exhibition area accounting for more than 30% of the total area. The number of exhibitors reaches nearly 2,000. 

The quality of foreign exhibitions was further improved with nearly 750 enterprises from 45 countries attending the Expo. In the ASEAN exhibition area, seven ASEAN countries, namely  Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, resumed their chartered pavilions. Chinese exhibitors highlighted new products and technologies such as digital economy and green economy. 

At the Expo, overseas merchants fully resumed their offline participation. The scale of ASEAN pavilion was restored to the level before the epidemic with about 640 exhibitors. Many well-known enterprises in ASEAN countries including Brunei Muara Port Company, Cambodia Mega Asset Management Co. Ltd., Laos Dao Heung, Malaysia Air Asia, Myanmar Royal Shan State Company, Philippines BDO Financial Bank, Singapore Changi Airport Group, Vietnam Trung Nguyen participated in the exhibition. Philippine durian made its debut at the Expo. 

The Expo focuses on strengthening cooperation in science and technology innovation with ASEAN countries, grasping new opportunities for change. and building new competitive advantages. The Expo will set up exhibition areas for intelligent equipment, digital technology, advanced technology, green building materials and smart homes, focusing on green and low-carbon technologies and applications, supporting to reach carbon peak and carbon neutrality, and promoting green development in the region.
