In an interview, Yang Lan said that Three Lanes and Seven Alleys Historical and Cultural District is a vivid and lively way to preserve cultural heritage. She said, "We are not protecting a building or a cultural relic, but preserving a way of life. So it must be protected in a revitalized way, just like Three Lanes and Seven Alleys Historical and Cultural District, where people live, do business, grow and receive education as usual. This is the best way to protect and promote cultural heritage, for it is alive and vivid.”
