The 8th Silk Road International Film Festival to be Held in Fuzhou on the Evening of December 8

Fuzhou, Dec. 7 (Fuzhou News/Wu Hui) -- The 8th Silk Road International Film Festival will see its opening ceremony kick off at Minyue River Town, a cultural tourist resort in Fuzhou, on the evening of December 8. This year’s film festival, highlighting the characteristics of internationalization, professionalism and marketization, includes six major activities the opening ceremony, film awards, forums, film panorama, film marketing activities, and the awards gala.

Since its establishment in 2014, the Silk Road International Film Festival has been successfully held for seven sessions. For the first time, this film festival will set the Golden Silk Road Awards for the competition section, namely the 10 prizes of  Best Picture, Best Director, Best Emerging Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Mixing or Visual Effects, Best Documentary, and Best Animated Film.

The professional jury for this year’s Golden Silk Road Awards, with Huang Jianxin, a renowned Chinese director and producer as president, will comprise 13 well-known domestic and foreign filmmakers, including Rao Shuguang, Yu Nan, Simon Yam Tat Wah, Marco Muller, Fu Hongxing, and Suda, etc.

There will also be two main forums: one is themed on “New Era, New Chapter - Starting a New Journey of Sino-Foreign Film Cooperation”, and the other is themed on “5G+4K, the Transformation of Digitalization and Film.”

With over 1,000 films collected from 52 countries and regions around the world, more than 100 non-profit revolutionary film tours have been rolled out since July, which have accommodated various themes including “The 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China”, During the film festival, there will be activities such as Century of Glory”, “Silk Road Movie Styles”, “Global Film Selections”, 4K Restoration of Classic Films, “Cross-Strait Films”, “Into Fujian Filmmakers”, and so on. About 100 excellent films will be selected for screening. Besides, the festival will organize crew meetings, filmmaker seminar, filmmaker dialogue, script carnival, and other supporting activities, to allow the public to discover the fascination of films, making itself a cultural event for both filmmakers and citizens.
