Fuzhou Daily (Reported by Zhu Rong) -- Recently the Master Plan of Fuzhou Ports (2035) has been jointly approved by Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China and Fujian Provincial People’s Government, according to Fuzhou Ports Development Center of Fujian Province.

It is understood that the approved Master Plan covers the ports in Fuzhou City, Ningde City, and Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone. According to the Plan, the port of Fuzhou City (including Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone) is designed as a major national port, an important hub of comprehensive transportation system and a central pillar of Fujian’s implementation of national strategies, while the port of Ningde City is positioned as an important regional port. The two ports together underpin the major spatial distribution of industries as well as the economic and social development of “Two Cities and One Zone, and serve as an important platform for exchanges and cooperation across the Taiwan Strait.

The ports planned from south to north include eight port areas and one port. They are Pingtan Port Area, Jiangyin Port Area, Songxia Port Area, Minjiang River Estuary Inner Port Area, Luoyuanwan Port Area, Sanduao Port Area, Baima Port Area, Shacheng Port Area and Sansha Port. Among them, Jiangyin Port Area, Luoyuanwan Port Area and Sanduao Port Area are national key port areas and the planned No.1 berth of Chengao operation area in Sanduao Port Area has been included in the national 400,000-ton berth distribution planning.

The approved Master Plan will effectively guide the functional development, transformation and upgrading of the ports in Fuzhou City, Ningde City and Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone, and chart the right course for the coordinated development of those ports in accordance with the new situation and requirements, such as the integration of port resources in Fujian Province. Thus, the plan will vigorously advance the high-quality development of those ports, promote the regional economic growth in “Two Cities and One Zone and accelerate the development of Fuzhou ports toward an international major deep-water port.
