Logo of the 44th Session of
the World Heritage Committee Released

TIME:2021-05-17 23:09

Given the impossibility of holding a meeting in present due to the extreme exceptional circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, the World Heritage Committee decided that this session will take place as a fully online meeting from 16 to 31 July 2021. The opening ceremony of the session will be held in Fuzhou (China) and will be live streamed for all participants by the Host Country.

The logo of the 44th Session of the World Heritage Committee emerges in the form of window lattice typical of traditional Chinese architecture and integrates elements such as the saddle walls of Fujian’s traditional houses, the "Fu" character, and "Chinese seal engraving". The logo pattern resembles a traditional Chinese painting with the elegant silhouettes of traditional houses, which looks like auspicious clouds scattered on the landscape of Fujian, symbolic of the sound inheritance and protection of natural and cultural heritage by Fujian. The engraved Chinese character "Fu" in the window lattice conveys the unique "Fu" culture and bliss to the world from the beautiful and time-honored city—Fuzhou. The blank space in the logo leaves people with unrestrained reveries about the lucid waters and lush mountains of Fujian and Fuzhou. The "Chinese seal engraving" below denotes the profound history of traditional Chinese culture, and the "Chinese seal" shows the red genes of China as the host country. The colors and lines of the logo design highly accord with the emblems of UNESCO and the World Heritage Convention.
